Day 1

Today was our first official day touring the north of France. We left Paris for a short trip to Rouen. There, we got to see the church built by where Joan of Arc was burned as well as learn some of the the history of the 100 Years War from our tour guide Audrey. She is bilingual in French and English, but insists on speaking almost entirely in French in order to help us prepare for our family stay. We all broke off to eat lunch (Stephanie, Lauren, Maria, and I went to « Le Sud »). Then, we met back up and went to see the « Half-Timber » buildings that were all over the old part of the city. They were really unique looking and definitely not something we have too often in America! We also got to see several massive catherdrals that had gorgeous Gothic architecture, stained glass windows, and intricate carvings. After that, we left to go to Honfleur, where we are staying the night tonight, but during the day we shopped and explored the gorgeous harbor there. We all met and had dinner together at « Le Chat Qui Peche » for a great fish dinner and some cute waiters. All in all, today was a great day and everyone is looking forward to tomorrow, too! We miss you, Moms and Dads and Families !
